Abstract:Pelizaeus-Merzbacher disease (PMD, currently known as hypomyelinating leukodystrophy type 1 [HLD1]) is a hereditary hypomyelinating and/or demyelinating disease associated with the proteolipid protein 1 (plp1) gene in the central nervous system (CNS).
