“…The diagnostic indicators of the ND ineffective breastfeeding (00104) are more descriptive of the mother's responses and behaviors in relation to the infant's conditions, than those associated with the infant him/herself. In this study, 26.2% of the dyads presented this ND, a lower frequency than in other studies (Abrão, Gutierrez, & Marin, ; Alvarenga et al., ; Freitas, Melo, Valente, Américo, & Sousa, ). This finding may be related to the training of the diagnosticians for the studies, their diagnostic skill level, differences in the clientele of the various NICUs, and/or the characteristics of the protocols and institutions where the studies were conducted.…”

Each assessed item was considered appropriate when 70% or more of the consultants attributed the concepts good or great to the assessed aspect (16) .…”

“…Health professional support to women is fundamental in the first weeks from birth, when they face most of the challenges and difficulties to breastfeeding, increasing the risk of early weaning, in addition to being important for the maintenance and support to continuous breastfeeding (4) . Clinical practice regarding breastfeeding generally requires health professionals to have specific knowledge based on updated scientific evidence, enhancing their knowledge and skills and providing support to an appropriate clinical reasoning (5)(6) . In spite of that, knowledge and skills gaps in breastfeeding support have been reported in all care levels and described in the scientific literature, damaging quality of care both to women and their children and increasing the risk of complication and early weaning (4,7) .…”

“…The NANDA International Taxonomy (NANDA-I) is one of the most widely used nursing diagnosis classification systems in the world for clinical judgment about health problems or vital processes (6) . Based on these health problems, the nursing team will be able to determine good clinical indicators, which enable nurses to establish the judgment of nursing diagnoses with the minimum chance of errors, that is, with greater accuracy (7) .…”
