Critical dimension in profile semiparametric estimation

Abstract: This paper complements the results of (Andresen and Spokoiny, 2014) on profile estimators in semiparametric models. We present two examples. One that illustrates that the smoothness constraint on the expected value of the contrast functional used to define the profile M-estimator is necessary for the bound derived for the critical ratio of dimension to sample size. A second one to show that in the case that the target dimension is proportional to the full dimension the critical ratio for the Fisher type result… Show more

“…The random variable ξ ∈ IR p and the matrix D ∈ IR p×p are related to the efficient influence function in semiparametric models and its covariance. These are up to ρ k R 0 the same properties as those proven for the pME in Andresen and Spokoiny (2013) k) with some 0 < τ < 1 and…”

“…The finite sample deviation and large deviations bound of quasi-MLE under model misspecification is discussed in Spokoiny (2012). Similar results for semiparametric models are presented in Andresen and Spokoiny (2014). An interesting future development is the exact large deviations rate under this setting.…”
