Hori et al (2013) reported that the rice flowering-time quantitative trait locus Heading date 16 (Hd16) acts as an inhibitor in the flowering pathway by enhancing the photoperiod response through phosphorylation of Ghd7, and the mechanisms that recognize day length in several plant species were proposed by Osugi and Izawa (2014).
