“…These findings are consistent with previous studies. For example, older nurses have a higher level of critical thinking than younger ones (Chang et al., 2011; Chen et al., 2019; Feng et al., 2010; Ludin, 2018; Wangensteen et al., 2010; Yurdanur, 2016; Zuriguel‐Pérez et al, 2018), and nurses with more experience report a better critical thinking ability than those with less experience (Chang et al., 2011; Chen et al., 2019; Feng et al., 2010; Ludin, 2018). Older and experienced nurses are more mature in their way of thinking (Chen et al., 2019; Ludin, 2018).…”

“…For nurse educators and nurse managers, they should provide more chances and take targeted measures to help nurses to nurture critical thinking disposition in educational and professional contexts. First, nurse educators and managers should have the knowledge of critical thinking and make efforts to be an ideal critical thinker because their habits and behaviours may influence the development of critical thinking disposition of nurses (Mangena & Chabeli, ; Raymond & Profetto‐McGrath, ; Zuriguel‐Perez et al, ). Second, the individual characteristics of open‐minded, flexible, creative, supportive, responsive and approachable are crucial for educators and managers to create an encouraging and learner‐centred learning/staff‐centred working environment for asking questions, discussing and thinking critically which is essential for cultivating the disposition towards critical thinking (Chan, ).…”
