Cross-Coupling Reactions of Double or Triple Electrophilic Templates for Alkene Synthesis

Abstract: This short review summarizes the latest advances in the cross-coupling reactions of double and triple electrophilic templates bearing halogen atoms and an activated C–O bond. Reactions involving the formation of a C–C bond as part of di-, tri-, and tetrasubstituted double bond systems are highlighted.1 Introduction2 Cross-Coupling Reactions of Halovinyl Tosylates3 Cross-Coupling Reactions of Halovinyl Triflates4 Cross-Coupling Reactions of Halovinyl Phosphates5 Cross-Coupling Reactions of Halovinyl Esters6 Con… Show more

“…Beyond the realm of traditional methods, techniques involving transition-metal complexes [ 5 , 6 , 7 ], electrosynthesis [ 8 , 9 , 10 , 11 , 12 ], and photochemical transformations [ 13 , 14 , 15 ] are widely used. These developments have allowed for the preparation of a wide range of compounds as well as transformations that include the formation of C–C bonds [ 16 , 17 , 18 , 19 , 20 , 21 ], the synthesis of heterocyclic compounds [ 22 , 23 , 24 , 25 , 26 , 27 , 28 ], and the preparation of tetrasubstituted alkenes [ 29 , 30 , 31 , 32 , 33 , 34 , 35 , 36 ]. In addition to conventional starting compounds, organophosphates are increasingly utilized in organic synthesis, likely due to their availability.…”

“…A wide range of compounds with applications in medical or material science has been synthesized by means of cross-coupling reactions. Here, the synthesis of tetrasubstituted alkenes [29][30][31][32][33][34][35][36][37] and the preparation of heterocyclic compounds [38][39][40][41][42][43] are examples of such syntheses. A typical reaction scheme for the formation of a C-atom bond via a cross-coupling reaction involves a reaction between an electrophile and a nucleophile.…”
