“…Information is generally lacking on the association between cow BW (stratified within herd) and longevity, especially in grazing production systems where feed is generally limited. The implications of the results from the present study are that expected phenotypic differences among animals (i.e., dams or sires) based on their respective estimates of genetic merit (Ring et al, 2021) would need to be rescaled based on the BW of the cow. The extent of rescaling would be a function of the BW of the cow herself.…”
