Cross sections of6Li(t,d1)7Li*[0.478] and6Li(t,p1)8Li*[0.981] nuclear reactions in the 0-2 MeV energy range

Abstract: An original extrapolation technique developed previously is modified and applied to study nuclear reactions in the 6Li + T system at energies E = 0-2 MeV. Cross sections of gamma-ray-producing reactions 6Li(t,d1)7Li*[0.478] and 6Li(t,p1)8Li*[0.981] with important diagnostic implications are calculated. The (t,d1) nuclear data found exceed those accepted elsewhere by 2.5-3.5 times at sub-barrier energies. The cross sections of the (t,p1) reaction are calculated for the first time.

“…We calculate the necessary data within the framework of an extrapolation procedure developed by us earlier and used in a study of low-energy nuclear reactions in other Li-containing systems, 6 Li + D [1] and 6 Li + T [2,3]. In our approach, sub-barrier energy behaviour of the 6 Li + 3 He reaction cross sections, σ (E), is represented in the form…”

“…In this paper, we continue a series of our studies on 6 Li-induced nuclear reactions of particular interest in nuclear fusion research and relevant to some astrophysical problems. Our previous works in the field published recently in this journal [1,2] dealt with nuclear processes in 6 Li + D and 6 Li + T systems. This time we investigate low-energy 6 Li + 3 He reactions which may have an important implication as a nuclear thermometer of D-3 He fusion plasma.…”
