Crossroads of Identities in Women Religious in Spain. Catholicism, Society and Second Vatican Council (1953–69)*

Abstract: This article examines the evolution and transformation of female religious life in Spain under Franco's regime, which began after the Spanish Civil War in 1939 and ended with the dictator's death in 1975. During the dictatorship, the public stance towards Catholicism made consecrated religious life one of the potential social undertakings for women at that time.
