Abstract:Background
The Hippo pathway is an evolutionarily conserved regulator of organ size and tumorigenesis. YAP is the main effector downstream of the Hippo pathway. Hippo activation induces an inhibitory YAP serine phosphorylation and nuclear exit/ proteolytic degradation, thereby negatively regulating YAP activity. YAP activates TEAD transcription factors, thereby controlling growth and death in many cell types. In the adult heart, YAP has been shown to contribute to the regenerative response in… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
