Cryopreservation of invertebrate gametes is mainly limited to echinoderms and molluscs, such as sea urchin, Strongylocentrotus intermedius , (Ohyama & Asahina 1972; Asahina & Takahashi 1978), oyster, Crassostrea tulipa , (Hughes 1973; Yankson & Moyse 1991) and small abalone, Haliotis diversicolor , (Gwo, Chen & Cheng 2002).
