Crystal Inclusion Formation of a New Type of Dumbbell-Shaped Host Compound Featuring Two Bulky 2,3,4,5-Tetraphenylcyclopenta-2,4-dien-1-ol Terminal Groups Attached to a Linear Spacer Unit

Abstract: Four new host compounds of dumbbell shape featuring bulky 2,3,4,5-tetraphenylcyclopenta-2,4-dien-1-ol moieties attached to both ends of a linear spacer element of different lengths comprising both 1,4-phenylene and ethynylene subunits are synthesized and corresponding crystal inclusions involving DMSO, DMF, MeCN, and THF as guest solvents (seven examples of inclusion compounds) are isolated.
