Crystal structure of bis(1,10-phenanthroline-N,N')bis(2-chlorobenzoato) tetrakis(μ-2-chlorobenzoato)dilanthanum(III), La2(C12H8N2)2(ClC7H4O2)6

Abstract

Source of materialFreshly prepared La 2(CO3)3 (0.14 g, 0.31 mmol), 1,10-phenanthroline (phen · H 2O; 0.07 g, 0.35 mmol), 2-chlorobenzoic acid (0.09 g, 0.57 mmol), 15 mL CH 3OH/H2O (1:2, v/v) were mixed and stirred for ca. 2 h. The resulting suspension was heated in a 23 ml Teflon-lined stainless steel autoclave to 423 K, kept for 5 days, cooled to 373 K and kept for 4 days. After the autoclave was cooled to room temperature, yellowish block crystals were obtained. Experimental detailsThe crystal structure shows some disorder of the chlorobenzoato groups. While the dynamical rotational disorder around C60C66 represented by the large U ii values of Cl6 atom stayed unchanged, the static disorders (Cl3 and C35®C39-Cl5 group) were resolved into each two preferred sites under using of restraints for CC and CCl bond lengths and for U ij values. DiscussionThe crystal structure of title compound is isotypic to the structures of #3: 1+x,1+y,z; #4: x,1+y,z; #5: 1+x,y,z). Through the week hydrogen interactions the complex molecules are interlinked to form the 2D supramolecular network.
