Crystal structure of diaqua[5,10,15,20-tetrakis(4-bromophenyl)porphyrinato-κ4N]magnesium

Abstract: The title compound, [Mg(C44H24Br4N4)(H2O)2] or [Mg(TBrPP)(H2O)2], where TBrPP is the 5,10,15,20-tetrakis(4-bromophenyl)porphyrinato ligand, was obtained unintentionally as a by-product of the reaction of the [Mg(TBrPP)] complex with an excess of dimethylglyoxime in dichloromethane. The entire molecule exhibits point group symmetry 4/m. In the asymmetric unit, except for two C atoms of the phenyl ring, all other atoms lie on special positions. The MgII atom is situated at a site with symmetry 4/m, whil… Show more

“…Similarly, compound 2 exhibited shifting of the Soret and two Q bands. The Soret and Q band values of 1 and 2 are very similar to those of other related penta-and hexacoordinated magnesium complexes 3,12,18,19,[24][25][26][27][28] and axial ligation is supported by the shifting of the Soret and Q band positions.…”

“…7 Several five and six-coordinated magnesium porphyrins are known due to coordination to N and O-donating ligands. 3,[9][10][11][12][13][14][15][16][17] But the coordination of histamine is not known in the literature.…”

“…Incidentally, compound Co II -TIPPr shows also a remarkable electrochemical dioxygen reduction reactivity. 48 Direct halogen-halogen interactions are considerably less pronounced in various derivatives of the tetraIJ4bromophenyl)porphyrin scaffold, e.g., Zn II -TBrPPr, 49 Mg II IJH 2 -O) 2 -TBrPPr 50 and [(TBrPPr)-Fe] 2 O, 51 due to the lower polarizability of the Br-function.…”

“…The interaction of metalloporphyrins with donor molecules via axial coordination either can strongly influence the photophysical properties and the efficiency of energy or electron transfer processes [17]. For a better understanding of the principles governing the structural properties of this type coordination complexes, hydrogen bonding, π-π stacking and intermolecular C-H...Cg interactions have been studied [18][19][20]. In continuation of our work on functionalization of meso-tetraarylporphyrins, we combined the porphyrin framework with two nitrogen based ligands (HTMA and DABCO) to design two new six-coordinated Mg(II) porphyrins complexes: bis(HTMA) (5,10,15,20-tetrakis [4-(benzoyloxy) complexes were characterised by X-ray diffraction, infrared, proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopies, mass spectrometry, and elemental analysis.…”
