Crystal Structure of the LnAgTe₂ (Ln: Y, Tb, Dy, Ho and Er) Compounds.

Abstract

Structure D 2000Crystal Structure of the LnAgTe2 (Ln: Y, Tb, Dy, Ho and Er) Compounds. -The crystal structures of the title compounds are determined by powder XRD and single crystal XRD on ErAgTe2. The compounds crystallize in the space group P421m with Z = 2. In the structures the Te atoms are stacked in a close-packed arrangement with layers in the sequence AB. Half of the octahedral interstices are occupied by Ln atoms. The Ag atoms are located in the remaining octahedral interstices, but are shifted from the centers of the respective octahedra, resulting in a tetrahedral surrounding of the Ag atoms. -(GULAY*, L.
