“…In this work, nonmagnetic Ga was chosen to substitute for Co. Previously, a few structures have been reported in Gd(Co1-xGax)2 system: 1) cubic MgCu2-type GdCo2 (Fd 3 m) 6 ; 2) hexagonal MgZn2-type structure for GdCo1.333Ga0.667 (P63/mmc); 7 3) orthorhombic SrMgSi-type GdCoGa (Pnma) 8 ; 4) orthorhombic CeCu2-type GdCo0.67Ga1.33 (Imma) 9 ; and 5) hexagonal AlB2-type GdGa2 (P6/mmm) 10 , suggesting that the structural types change regularly with an x interval of 1/6 or 1/3 for Gd(Co1-xGax)2. To explore this system in greater details, Gd(Co1-xGax)2 (x = 0, 1/6, 1/3, 1/2, 2/3, 5/6, and 1) alloys were prepared in this work.…”

“…It is well known that rare earth (R) alloys have been widely used for their excellent chemical, physical and microstructure performance, and rare earth-transition metal(R-T) intermetallics show an important group of compounds with interesting magnetic and hydrogen storage properties [1,2]. The X-ray diffraction patterns of many new phases in the R-T intermetallics system have not been extensively studied.…”
