Abstract:Two new complexes, {[Cd(immb)I 2 ]·DMF} n (1) and {[Cd 3 (immb)(btc) 2 ]·H 2 O} n (2) (immb = 2-(1H-imidazol-1-methyl)-6-methyl-1H-benzimidazole, btc = 1,2,3-benzenetricarboxylate, DMF = dimethyl formamide), have been synthesized and characterized. Single crystal X-ray diffraction shows that 1 exhibits a chain structure constructed by immb ligands bridging Cd(II) ions. In 2, Cd(II) ions are linked by immb ligands with bridging mode and btc 3-anions with the μ 2 -η 2 :η 1 bonding pattern leading to a 2D structu… Show more
“…17 As a result, the emission peak in complex 1 can tentatively be assigned to intraligand π → π* transitions within the immb ligand, since a similar emission can also be observed for free immb. 7 Succinic acid has no contribution to the fluorescence emission of complex 1; similar cases have been reported. 18 In contrast to free immb, complex 1 shows a slightly red-shifted emission band caused by the metalligand coordination interactions which influence the rigidity and asymmetry of the ligands and the coordination environment of the metal centres.…”

“…[7][8][9][10] Among the reported immb-based complexes, one complex has been obtained using one type of immb ligand, 7 and five complexes have been obtained using immb and aromatic polycarboxylates. [7][8][9][10] Among the six immb-based complexes, there is no complex based on immb and aliphatic carboxylates. As an extension of previous work, we have used immb and succinic acid (H 2 suc) as mixed ligands to react with Zn(NO 3 ) 2 •6H 2 O and successfully obtained the new complex{[Zn(immb)(suc)]•H 2 O} n (1).…”
The metal–organic complex {[Zn(immb)(suc)]·H2O}n [immb = 2-[(1H-imidazol-1-yl)methyl]-6-methyl-1H-benzimidazole, H2suc = succinic acid] has been prepared and its crystal structure determined. Its fluorescence and thermogravimetric data have also been obtained.

“…All H atoms were refined with U iso (H) = 1. [4][5][6][7][8][9][10]. 4,4′-Bipyridine has also been used extensively as ligand for the construction of complexes [11,12].…”
