Crystallization of Metallic Glasses and Supercooled Liquids
Dmitri V. Louzguine-Luzgin
Abstract:This is an overview of recent findings on the structural changes observed upon heating, including crystallization processes in conventional metallic glasses, bulk metallic glasses, and their corresponding supercooled liquids. This paper encapsulates the various crystallization behaviors in metallic glasses by primary, eutectic, and polymorphous mechanisms, highlighting the complexity and diversity of the nucleation and growth mechanisms involved. Mechanically induced room-temperature crystallization is also di… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
