Crystallization of well-defined anatase nanoparticles in SBA-15 for the photocatalytic decomposition of acetic acid

Abstract: Crystallization of well-defined anatase nanoparticles (5 nm) in the mesopore (6 nm) of SBA-15 over 400 °C, results the high photocatalytic activity for decomposition of acetic acid compared with other commercial titanium dioxides.

“…The diffraction characteristics of SBA-15 are not clear for SBA-15-TiO 2 -1 and SBA-15-TiO 2 -2 due to the incorporation of guest species in the mesopore, and no diffraction peaks corresponding to crystalline phases of TiO 2 were observed. These observations are consistent with our previous studies on SBA-15-anatase hybrids. , …”

“…The X-ray diffraction patterns of SBA- 67 when SBA-15-TiO 2 -1 and SBA-15-TiO 2 -2 were heated in air at 300 °C for 3 h in air were observed in our previous studies. [55][56][57][58]61 On the contrary, in this study, the diffraction peaks and the Raman signals ascribable to rutile 55,61,67 were observed when SBA-15-TiO 2 -1 and SBA-15-TiO 2 -2 were stored at room temperature in air for 4 weeks and 1 week, respectively, as shown in Figure 2. However, aging without HCl exposure did not lead to the crystallization of rutile, as shown by the diffraction peaks and Raman signals (Figure 2C).…”

“…However, the complex template techniques are less favorable since the templates themselves are not easy to prepare. Sol-gel processes in the presence of soft template have been widely employed (Cabrera et al 1999;Valange et al 2000;Niesz et al 2005), such as the evaporation-induced self-assembly (EISA) method.…”
