Crystallization Paths and Microstructures in Ternary Oxide Systems with Stoichiometric Compounds

Abstract: The problems of computer model simulation of CаO-SiO2-Al2O3 system are considered. The crystallization scheme and sets of microstructure elements are analyzed for the fields of liquidus CaO, 3CaO*SiO2, 3CaO*Al2O3. The concentration fields both with individual set of microstructure elements and the fields without the unique crystallization scheme and microstructure set were found. The crystallization stages for given compositions are illustrated by the mass balance diagrams.

“…2, a), that belong to the primary crystallization of component C(CaO) and neighbor compounds C 3 S and C 3 A (19 two-, 21 one-and 12 zerodimensional fields) reveals that there are 18 fields (12 one-dimensional and 6 zero-dimensional) without the unique set of microconstituents (Fig. 2) [13]. At that, only within 2 one-and 1 zerodimensional fields the crystallization stages and the microconstituents completely coincide with the adjoining fields: (R 6 -3)(R 6 -3-4), (Q 2 -3)(Q 2 -Q 3 -4-3), 3 (3)(4), where sign "" designates the first field belonging to the second one.…”

“…System CaO-SiO 2 -Al 2 O 3 (C-A-S) has a great practical importance. When phase regions of C-A-S system were projected to the Gibbs triangle, it has given 117 two-, 163 one-and 45 zerodimensional concentration fields [9][10][11][12][13]. The crystallization paths and the formation of microconstituents in phases assemblage have been analyzed for the surfaces of CaO, 3CaOSiO 2 and 3CaOAl 2 O 3 primary crystallization.…”

“…Computer models development of the phase diagrams of oxide systems makes it possible to analyze in detail the crystallization stages and microconstituents for any part of phase diagrams of oxide systems, even with very complex structure [9]. As an example, let's consider the analysis of concentration fields of the system СaO-SiO2-Al2O3 (C-A-S) arranged under the C2S liquidus by means of its computer model [10][11]. The analysis of crystallization schemas permits to identify the concentration fields with coinciding sets of phase reactions and micro-constituents: R2-Q2 ∈ R2-Q2-Q3, R2-Q4 ∈ R2-E1-Q4, 1∈ е1-1, Q9∈ 4-Q9.…”
