CSA Doped Poly(aniline-co-o-toluidine) and Dispersed Zinc Oxide Nanoparticles: a Promising Material for Photovoltaics

Abstract: Copolymerization of aniline and o-toluidine is achieved by chemical oxidative polymerization with equal molar ratio of monomers in the presence of hydrochloric acid and ammonium persulphate as an oxidant. The copolymer found to be more soluble in polar solvents such as NMP, DMF and DMSO. FTIR spectroscopy confirms the copolymer chemical structure. UV spectroscopy shows π to π* transition and excitonic transition of the copolymer film. The copolymer is doped with camphorsulfonic acid (CSA) in m-cresol and then … Show more

“…A broader amplitude blue emission at ∼450 nm, a sharp bluish emission at 482 nm and a green emission at 526 nm have significant changes. Of the emission above, the first two correspond to π-π * transition for the benzenoid segment and the polaronic band of PANI [39] and the third corresponds to the n-π * transition for the [EMIM] + N of the imidazole segment in imidazolium ionic liquid [40]. In a certain polymerization, the adsorption of doped cation induces the electron cloud polarization of the PANI N atom, which enhances the intensity of luminescence.…”

“…The peak at 27° attributed to the distance between the ring planes of benzene ring [7] and the peak at 33° ascribe the periodicity perpendicular to the polymer chain [8]. A small peak at 15.52°, 17.52° and 19.22° belongs to CSA [9] The peaks at 24.62°, 26.32, 28.02°, 43.82°, and 51.79° shows the cubic phase of CdS [10]. PDMA/CdS pattern shows the presence of CdS in the polymer matrix.…”

“…These conjugated polymeric materials can be easily synthesized at low cost with good environmental stability [5][6]. The properties of the conjugated polymers can be enhanced by adding different type of dopants, synthesizing conjugated copolymers having different functional groups and polymer nanocomposites using metal nanoparticles [7][8][9][10][11][12].…”
