“…After successfully performing the synthesis of fused quinoline analogues from tetrahydroquinolines, it is of interest to develop a one-pot transformation of the N,N-dimethylaniline 1a to the fused quinoline derivative 4a. After screening various reagent systems, it was identified that the use of the Cu(OAc) 2 / TBHP reagent system 27 not only assisted in the synthesis of 3a but also did not interfere with the subsequent transformation of 3a to 4a under one-pot operation.
