Cucurbit[10]uril‐mediated Supramolecular Assembly for Optically Tunable Dimers and Near White‐light Emissive Materials

Abstract: Cucurbit[10]uril (Q[10]), the cucurbit [n]uril with a large cavity, exhibits several new features in the development of the host-guest complex. Thus, based on Q[10] and πconjugated molecule, oligo(p-phenylenevinylene) derivative (OPVCOOH), the host-guest complexes with three different interaction ratios of 1 : 2, 2 : 2, and 3 : 2 assemblies (Q[10]: guest) were fabricated. Depending on the host/guest ratio, the emission color of these complexes ranged from blue to yellow-green. The extra Fe 2 + coordinated with… Show more

“…As a member with the largest cavity in the CB[ n ] family, CB[10] has also been used in the construction of tunable luminescent materials recently. 11 Inspired by this, we designed three anthracene derivatives ( G1 , G2 , and G3 ) as electron donors and azaanthracene ( G4 ) as the electron acceptor. First, we investigated the complexation behavior of G1–G3 with CB[10] and the photophysical properties of the resulting homodimer assemblies.…”

“…Cucurbit[ n ]urils (CB[ n ])-based supramolecular organic luminescent emission has attracted a considerable amount of attention and has been broadly used in many fields, including biological imaging, 1 organic light-emitting diodes, 2 sensing and detection. 3 The macrocyclic-confinement derived from the rigid pumpkin-shaped structure can apparently adjust the guest aggregation performance, and thus various intelligent organic light-emitting materials in aqueous media and in the solid state have been developed.…”
