Culture in Health Care in the Republic of Serbia

Abstract

Summary Culture encompasses entire societies, influences everything we feel, see, do and believe and shape the way we approach the world around us. Culture is an inseparable part of human existence and as such an important part of health and health care. The aim of this paper was to present specific forms of culture in health care that have influence on the quality of health care system, as well as to investigate in which capacity is work on culture in the health care system in Serbia represented. National and international literature and documentation was processed using analytical methods - observation and comparative method. Health culture as responsibility of health care users and culture in health care as responsibility of health care employees are key factors in improving the health system in Serbia. The most important step has been made with the strategic plan of the Government of the Republic of Serbia in 2010, however, everyone has to accept and understand the importance of culture in health care and apply its rules into the practise.

New data on the distribution of Adenophora liliifolia (L.) A. DC. (Campanulaceae) in Serbia

“…The only extant population in the single till now known site in the gorge of Ibar river near Ribariće spreads more or less continuously over a length of c. 10 kilometers, predominantly between Ribariće and Batrage (surrounding of Prometanj). It is estimated to consist of more than 2000 reproductive individuals (Stevanović & Lakušić 1999). Recent field studies have shown that the population in the Ibar gorge still persist within previously known range.…”

“…There are different opinions about the origin of A. liliifolia in Europe. According to Vaculná (2022) it probably represents a relic of the late glacial and early Holocene, while according to Stevanović & Lakušić (1999) it is a Tertiary relict. The distribution range of the species extends from southwestern Siberia and the Ural Mountains in the east to Western Europe, where the populations are highly fragmented.…”

“…It inhabits stony-gravel and shady banks of mountain rivers, mainly within thermo-mesophilous forests of the Orno-Ostryon alliance, but also the mesophilous streamside formations of Alnus glutinosa (Milanović & Stupar 2017), wet meadows of the alliance Molinion, beside hilly-mountainous rivers, and rarely mountainous peatbogs. It also grows on calcareous canyon rocks above the water (Stevanović & Lakušić 1999).…”

It is included in the Red Data Book of Flora of Serbia 1 as critically endangered species (Stevanović & Lakušić 1999). It is also listed in the Rulebook on the proclamation and protection of strictly protected and protected wild species of plants, animals and fungi in Serbia as strictly protected species (OFFICIAL GAZETTE RS 2010-2011), and in Annex II of the Directive on the conservation of natural habitats and wild fauna and flora (Habitat Directive, Council of the European Communities 1992).…”

The Becoming of a Prehistoric Landscape: Palaeolithic Occupations and Geomorphological Processes at Lojanik (Serbia)

“…The geological history of Lojanik is unique, as it was formed by the silicification of an ancient forest by a cataclysmic event during the Miocene [21]. The petrified wood created by these processes has been exploited since prehistorical times until today as sharpening material for knives and agricultural tools, such as scythes [16].…”
