Curcumin inhibits colon cancer malignant progression and promotes T cell killing by regulating miR‐206 expression

Abstract: Colon cancer is a great threat to human health. Curcumin, as a traditional Chinese medicine extract with anti‐tumor and anti‐inflammatory effects, can affect the development of diverse human diseases including cancer. The aim of this research was to probe the mechanism by which curcumin regulates colon cancer progression. Colon cancer cells were processed with graded concentrations of curcumin. The proliferation and apoptosis of the treated cells were determined by MTT, colony formation assay and flow cytometr… Show more

“…PD-L1 expression in tumor cells correlates with tumor immune evasion and poor clinical outcomes [ 56 ]. Accumulating evidence has shown the anti-tumor effects of suppressing PD-L1 expression in tumor cells [ 57 , 58 ]. In our study, SH003 effectively blocked the progression of melanoma by targeting the PD-L1 signaling pathway and promoting cell apoptosis.…”

“…Curcumin , derived from the dried rhizome of turmeric, is rich in phenols, terpenoids, flavonoids, and other constituents. Specifically categorized as a diphenyl heptane within the phenolic group, curcumin treatment has been discovered to effectively impede the proliferation and promote the apoptosis of colon cancer cells ( 128 ). Notably, curcumin treatment elevates the expression of miR-206, which subsequently influences the functional behavior of colon cancer cells.…”

“…Studies have shown that Cur can reprogram the pro-tumor phenotype of cancer-associated fibroblasts ( 8 ) and inhibit the invasion and migration of carcinoma cells ( 9 ), effectively controlling carcinoma progression. Cur is thought to be a potent anti-tumor agent in colorectal cancer ( 10 ). A comprehensive understanding of the anti-tumor mechanism of Cur will provide a better reference for the clinical application of Cur.…”
