“…A liquid-applied, thermal-cured, acrylic−melamine thermoset coating, which is used as a topcoat in the automotive industry, was chosen as a model system for this work. The cross-linking kinetics and network formation in this system have been extensively studied. However, except for a brief mention by Wicks et al, wrinkling behavior in such coatings has not been discussed in the literature. The formulation contained a hydroxyl functional acrylic oligomer, a hexafunctional melamine cross-linker, an amine-blocked acid catalyst, and a solvent.…”
