“…This study found that counselors who were licensed reported higher levels of CE than nonlicensed counselors. As the push for addiction counseling to be a more graduate‐specific discipline continues (Duryea & Colleja, ), the findings of this study suggest that more education, in turn leading to more licensed clinicians, may serve to produce more competent counselors when working with diverse client populations. In addition, results from this study found that lower amounts of multicultural education were linked to lower levels of CE scores.…”
