Current Harmonics From Single-Phase Grid-Connected Inverters—Examination and Suppression

Abstract: Environmental conditions and operational modes may significantly impact the distortion level of the injected current from single-phase grid-connected inverter systems, such as photovoltaic (PV) inverters, which may operate in cloudy days with a maximum power point tracking, in a non-unity power factor, or in the low voltage ride through mode with reactive current injection. In this paper, the mechanism of the harmonic current injection from grid-connected single-phase inverter systems is thus explored, and the… Show more

“…13(a) shows a distorted and unbalanced loadcurrent which has been obtained by modifying the crest factor, in each phase, of the Ametek programmable load. For this load the current has been separated into the currents defined by (5)(6)(7). This separation has been realised by the DSPACE platform in real time operation.…”

“…An MG could be implemented as a low voltage power distribution system operating in grid connected or islanded mode [3] [4] [5] feeding single-phase linear and non-linear loads, typically using three-phase 4-wire topologies [6] [7]. These inherently unbalanced loads produce negative and zero sequence components in the currents and voltages of the network.…”

“…A single-stage inverter should achieve voltage amplification, MPPT, output current shaping and galvanic isolation functions all in one stage [23], [24]. The fly-back topology is a common topology with a relatively simple structure and control strategy [2], [25].…”

“…RC presented a much slower dynamic response than PR and MRCs. To achieve a minimum steady-state error while maintaining a fast-transient 2 Journal of Electrical and Computer Engineering response, a hybrid controller by combining PR and RC has been proposed in [12,18]. However, the designation controller parameters were very complex to ensure the effectiveness of the control strategy and the stability of system.…”
