“…Among them, fused filament fabrication (FFF), selective laser sintering (SLS), stereolithography (SLA), laminated object manufacturing (LOM) and fused particle fabrication (FPF) are of relevant importance [1,2,3,4,5,6]. In particular, the FFF technique is the most used method for polymer-based modeling [7,8,9]. Although FFF of various polymers has already been commercialized, there is still the need to perform some fundamental studies to improve the process.…”

“…The results showed that auxetic lattice reinforced composites have enhanced mechanical performance and can absorb more energy compared with non-auxetic lattice reinforced composites. McCaw and Cuan-Urquizo 12 fabricated a variety of sinusoidal patterns of various density and amplitude with poly lactic acid (PLA) by FDM 3D printing, and the mechanical properties were analyzed using the failure test. They reported that the sinusoidal patterns with high density and normalized amplitude significantly delayed fracture until after the disrupted sinusoidal patterns and the quadratic patterns, possibly due to more strain than other patterns, though they did finally fracture.…”

“…The lengths to be added along the edges are extracted from the values obtained from the property gradient map, illustrated in Figure 4. The Poisson effect can also be tailored using well-established principles and patterns from the field of meta-material mechanisms [Kolken and Zadpoor 2017;McCaw and Cuan-Urquizo 2018], and the effect of changing other parameters such as the geometry can be explored.…”
