CVAR-Seg: An Automated Signal Segmentation Pipeline for Conduction Velocity and Amplitude Restitution

Abstract: BackgroundRate-varying S1S2 stimulation protocols can be used for restitution studies to characterize atrial substrate, ionic remodeling, and atrial fibrillation risk. Clinical restitution studies with numerous patients create large amounts of these data. Thus, an automated pipeline to evaluate clinically acquired S1S2 stimulation protocol data necessitates consistent, robust, reproducible, and precise evaluation of local activation times, electrogram amplitude, and conduction velocity. Here, we present the CV… Show more

“…However, most in silico experiments do not consider these factors, which might alter the EGM characteristics. Simulation studies have created a model of clinical noise which covers the electromagnetic interference ( Sánchez et al, 2021a ; Nothstein et al, 2021 ). However, further aspects likely need to be considered explicitly if their influence is relevant for the intended use of the model.…”

“…In this scenario, least-squares approaches [29,30] may perform better than purely geometric methods [17,28]. Nonetheless, a careful pre-processing of the input data is always necessary, in order to avoid unrealistically fast or low CVs [17,32]. In some cases very high CVs may actually be due to physiological phenomena, as breakthroughs and front collisions where, however, the CV is not well-defined.…”

“…Tento protokol je standardně používán pro měření elektrofyziologických vlastností vyšetřované tkáně, a především k určení ERP. Protokol sestává z opakované stimulace tkáně s periodou S1, která je následována jedním nebo i více stimuly, s periodou S2, která bývá zpravidla kratší[4]. Počet stimulů a délka periody ve fázi S1 může být obecně různá.…”
