CVD Conditions for MWCNTs Production and Their Effects on the Optical and Electrical Properties of PPy/MWCNTs, PANI/MWCNTs Nanocomposites by In Situ Electropolymerization

Abstract: In this work, the optimal conditions of synthesizing and purifying carbon nanotubes (CNTs) from ferrocene were selected at the first stage, where decomposition time, argon fluxes, precursor amounts, decomposition temperature (at 1023 K and 1123 K), and purification process (HNO3 + H2SO4 or HCl + H2O2), were modulated through chemical vapor deposition (CVD) and compared to commercial CNTs. The processing temperature at 1123 K and the treatment with HCl + H2O2 were key parameters influencing the purity, crystall… Show more

“…The peaks at 666, 1018, and 2908 cm −1 corresponded to C-H vibration bands of the aromatic ring and C-H stretching vibration of PPy. The peaks observed at 1450 cm −1 , 3422 cm −1 , and 1504 cm −1 were attributed to C-N, N-H, and C C, respectively, confirming the effective polymerization of the polypyrrole film on the electrode (Brachetti-Sibaja et al, 2021;Rizi et al, 2021). The peak at 1365 cm −1 was attributed to the C-C(-N-Cu) stretching vibration indicating the deposition of copper hydroxide/ copper oxide on the surface of the PPy film (Guo et al, 2018;Peshoria and Narula, 2018).…”

“…49 The final decomposition stage is above 640°. 50 All stages are also seen in composite structures. In the end, the TGA curves of PANI/ MWCNT (5 : 1), PANI/MWCNT (10 : 1), and PANI/MWCNT (30 : 1) show increasing weight loss with the PANI content of 49.5%, 53.5%, and 57.2%, respectively, while the pristine PANI has a weight loss of 55.4%, which is lower than that of the PANI/MWCNT (30 : 1) sample.…”
