Cyber—Physical Power System (CPPS): A review on measures and optimization methods of system resilience

Abstract: The Cyber-Physical Power System (CPPS) is one of the most critical infrastructure systems in a country because a stable and secure power supply is a key foundation for national and social development. In recent years, resilience has become a major topic in preventing and mitigating the risks caused by large-scale blackouts of CPPSs. Accordingly, the concept and significance of CPPS resilience are at first explained from the engineering perspective in this study. Then, a review of representative quantitative as… Show more

“…A Cyber-Physical Power System (CPPS), such as the smart grid, is comprised of a diverse range of computing equipment, data acquisition equipment, and physical equipment [2]. The computing equipment includes servers, computers, and embedded computing devices, while the data acquisition equipment encompasses sensors, phasor measurement units, and embedded data acquisition devices.…”

“…Smart cities have been valued by countries all over the world since they came into being; they provide more convenient conditions for people's lives, while improving the intellectual capital of cities [12][13][14][15][16]. As a smart city is highly dependent on some novel technical means such as cloud computing and IoT [17][18][19][20][21][22][23][24], the hidden danger of di usion of information risk accompanies the technical application.…”

“…Resilience of a system (e.g., rail transit system) refers to the ability of system to perform effectively under normal conditions, as well as to resist, absorb, accommodate and recover quickly from disruptions or disasters. 5,6 Figure 1 shows the resilience curve of a system, which depicts the change in system performance (SP) in three different stages (i.e., survivability, response and recovery) under disruptions. 7 In the case of a rail transit system hit by unexpected events, in survivability stage, its ability to transfer commuters is impaired.…”
