Digital technologies enable companies to build cyber-physical systems (CPS) in Industry 4.0. In the increasingly popular concept of Industry 4.0, an important research topic is the application of digital technology in industry, and in particular in specific industry sectors. The aim of this paper is to present the tools used in the steel industry in Poland on its way to the full digitalisation that is needed for the development of Industry 4.0. The paper consists of two parts: a literature review and a practical analysis. The paper provides the background information about digitalisation using digital tools in the steel industry in Poland. The paper was prepared based on secondary information and statistical data. The object of the research is the Polish steel sector. This study assumes that digitalisation is the main area of innovation in the steel industry. The digitalisation determines the creation of new or modified products, processes, techniques and expansion of the company’s infrastructure; therefore, the data on digital technology were supplemented with data on the innovativeness of the Polish steel sector. The results of this study provide managers with valuable information to understand the importance of full digitalisation and the need to focus on digital strategies. Such insights can be used to improve companies’ processing capabilities and produce better products, which is key to innovation.

Cyber-attacks on IT domain infrastructure directly affect the security of businesses' operational processes, potentially leading to system failure. Some industries have a high risk than others due to the sensitivity of their data, including the transportation industry, which has recently moved from traditional data management to digitalization. This study aims to identify the main cyber threats in the transportation sector by analyzing related works and highlighting the main countermeasures used to respond to such threats as well as enhance overall cybersecurity. This paper presents a comprehensive cybersecurity risk assessment for the transportation companies, identifying the most common attacks and proposing methods to minimize risk as much as possible. A risk assessment analysis was prepared by industry experts that included previous cyberattack scenarios. The results of our paper identified the most critical attacks on the transportation company's booking system and recommended suitable countermeasures to minimize the risk of those attacks.

Fostering Awareness on Environmentally Sustainable Technological Solutions for the Post-Harvest Food Supply Chain

This study presents a current status and future trends of innovative and environmentally sustainable technological solutions for the post-harvest food supply chain and the food industry, in terms of ecological packaging, active, and/or intelligent packaging. All these concerns are currently highlighted due to the strong increase in the purchase/sale of products on online platforms, as well as the requirements for stricter food security and safety. Thus, this study aims to increase the global awareness of agro-industrial micro, small, and medium size enterprises for the adoption of innovative food solutions though industry digitalization (Industry 4.0), associated logistics and circular economy, with a concern for cybersecurity and products information, communication and shelf-life extension. The adoption of these guidelines will certainly foster along the complete food chain (from producer to consumer, with all intermediary parties) the awareness on environmentally sustainable technological solutions for the post-harvest food supply chain, and thus, promoting the future food sustainability required by the population increase, the climate change, the exodus of rural population to urban areas, and food loss and waste.
