This study presents the synthesis of novel electroconductive materials based on carbon nanofibers (CNFs). The strategy used involves chemical functionalization with polyaniline (PANI) in one or in several successive stages. The other polymers utilized are poly(acrylic acid) and poly(glycidyl methacrylate). The obtained nanocomposite materials have been characterized using X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), thermogravimetric analysis, and scanning electron microscope analyses. The arrangement of the polymers in relation to the CNFs was determined to be a critical aspect in determining the electric conductivity of the material. Thus, the straightforward modification of CNF with PANI resulted in the most interesting morphology (structural homogeneity), consisting of CNFs covered with a polymer sheath. This characteristic leads to an improved electric conductivity of 0.36 S/cm. The results open new opportunities for future uses of the synthesized materials. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl.
