Abstract:Cyclooxygenase-2 expression is upregulated in Barrett's esophagus and esophageal adenocarcinoma. Photodynamic therapy using porfimer sodium can result in ablation of dysplasia and intramucosal carcinoma, eradication of Barrett's esophagus, and restitution of squamous epithelium.
