“…Cellular destruction ensues, liberating metalloproteasis and other proteolytic enzymes, which along with other factors, trigger an inflammatory response. 2 There are only 3 reported cases of CMO post-SLT in the literature 4,9,10 ; however, there are no reports of SLT causing foveal SRF. It could be postulated that anterior segment inflammation secondary to SLT resulted in posterior segment fluid accumulation due to inflammatory upregulation.…”

“…It is postulated that it induces less collateral thermal and mechanical damage than previous argon laser trabeculoplasty approaches. [2][3][4] Although an inflammatory response has been documented post-SLT, 1,5-8 the literature recognizes that cystoid macular edema (CMO) complicating SLT is a very rare occurrence, 4,9,10 reported only 3 times. However, we report a unique case of bilateral subretinal fluid (SRF) and decreased vision within 24 hours of SLT, with an acute decrease in best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) and response to conservative treatment over a 1-week period.…”

“…Ein choroidales Effusionssyndrom ist in Einzelfällen ein-und sogar beidseits (biologische Theorie der Wirksamkeit) nach einseitiger SLT beschrieben worden [52,53]. Bei einigen wenigen Patienten trat kurz nach einer SLT ein zystoides Makulaödem, in einem Fall eine beidseitige foveale, subretinale Flüssigkeitsansammlung mit Visusreduktion auf [54][55][56].…”

“…Case reports of patients developing hyphaema and peripheral anterior synechiae (PAS) following SLT have been published but such cases remain rare and are more common following ALT [77][78][79][80]. Cystoid macular oedema was also reported as a complication of SLT in case reports of patients with pre-existing ocular morbidities such as diabetic maculopathy, retinal vein occlusion and recent cataract surgery [81][82][83][84]. Therefore, patients with pre-disposing risk factors for macula oedema should be cautioned before SLT treatment.…”
