Abstract: The iris, ciliary body and retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) can undergo reactive hyperplasia, but true neoplasms of the retinal pigment epithelium are rare. RPE tumors can be benign or malignant. Even malignant variants rarely metastasize locally or distantly.
