Abstract:Cytopathology or cytology as a field has grown remarkably in the 20th and 21st centuries with recent advances shaping the way we train our future colleagues and how we currently practice. This article explores the history of cytopathology tracing back as early as the 18th century with focus on the birth of the cytopathology fellowship in the United States.
