“…Female reproductive tumors have been reported in past studies and have included fibromyomata and granulosa cell tumors in a squirrel monkey, ovarian adenocarcinoma in a capuchin (which might be the same individual as in this survey), a Brenner tumor in a black spider monkey, and a uterine hamartoma in a cottontopped tamarin [107]. The ovaries of female cebids appear to have a developmental phase in which there is massive proliferation of interstitial cells [29]. This physiologic phenomenon may have contributed to the formation of the "luteomas" described in woolly monkeys.…”
