Among the fifteen compounds, it is very interesting to note that aristolactam 14 showed not only non cytotoxicity to normal cell, but also exhibited significant cytotoxicity against the small cell lung cancer with an IC 50 value of 0.072 µg/ml, that was stronger than the standard drug, ellipticine (IC 50 = 1.12 µg/ml).In summary, a new 6-epi-goniothalesdiol A (1), along with nine styryllactones (2-10) and five aristolactams(11)(12)(13)(14)(15) were isolated from the bark of G. elegants.
