“…Studies reported pre-clinical and clinical trials based on dendritic cell vaccines for cervical cancer and HNSCC [ 75 77 ]. DCs are very cytotoxic towards HPV16 E6 and E7 proteins expressing cells [ 78 ], thus autologous DCs are generally pulsed with these antigens (E6, E7 or both peptides or proteins), with ex vivo altered tumor cells [ 53 , 75 , 76 ] or with transfected DNA to be activated [ 53 ].…”

“…A genetically-modified DC vaccine expressing HPV16 E6/E7 fusion oncoproteins was able elicit the action of E6/E7-specific CTLs against cervical carcinoma CaSki cells and induce their apoptosis. These elicited specific protective immunity functions by the HPV-16 E6/E7 fusion protein produced an effective approach against cervical cancer cell growth (65).…”

“…Although our study was limited in HCC cell lines, the results supplied us with a theory and practice basis for exploring the antitumor function of CTL immune response in animal models. A report by Wu et al [ 28 ] has shown that DCs loaded with Ad vector carrying human papillomavirus-16 E6/E7 (HPV-16 E6/E7) fusion gene cocultured with isogenous T cells induced CTL response resulting in a remarkably lethal effect on cervical cancer cell CaSki in vitro. Fu et al [ 29 ] also reported the significant inhibition function of CTLs elicited by HPV E6/E7-loaded DCs against tumor-bearing nude mice.…”
