“…The current study revealed that those who had higher average ratings of loneliness had shorter average sleep duration, consistent with previous findings (Doane & Thurston, 2014). While most prior research on this topic found associations between self-reported sleep problems and loneliness (Eccles et al, 2020;Palmer et al, 2022), objectively measured sleep efficiency was not associated with loneliness in either within-or between-person models. Further research is needed to elucidate the potential mechanisms by which sleep is associated with loneliness during adolescence, or if this association is confounded by characteristics such as social support.…”

“…During the first lockdown in the UK, a strong relationship between sleep quality and perceived changes in happiness has been observed in school-aged children and adolescents [ 133 ]. Crucially, using daily reports for one week, Palmer and coworkers (2022) found in US adolescents during the pandemic that higher sleep disturbances predicted next-day socioemotional difficulties, which in turn predicted more sleep problems the following night, suggesting a bidirectional cyclic association between sleep difficulties and daytime emotional experience [ 143 ]. Interestingly, in a cross-sectional and prospective Chinese study on a group aged between 16 and 25 years old, sleep disturbances during the COVID-19 outbreak were associated with an increased risk of post-traumatic stress disorder and depression [ 144 ].…”

“…In order to avoid over-fitting of the classifier due to high dimensional feature space, we applied the Sequential Backward Selection (SBS) and Leave-One-Subject-Out (LOSO) cross test to find the feature subset critical to stress detection from the 39 RR interval parameters. The features selected by SBS and LOSO cross test were shown in Table 1 [17][18][19][20]23] . Mean of RRIS Reflecting average level of ANS activity [18] Area Sum of all RRI Measuring the overall activity of ANS [18] AFD Average of the first-order differences of RRIS Measuring the average fluctuation of ANS activity [19] AASDN Average of the absolute second-order differences of the normalized RRIS [19] -RLHE…”
