The polyester/cotton blended yarn hairiness in warping process is affected by fiber performance and processing parameters, which makes its prediction difficult. Among these processes, warping process parameters play an important role in warping yarn hairiness through warping process. To examine the effect of various warping process parameters on yarn hairiness, in this work, we used the ANN method to predict the hairiness of polyester/cotton yarn in warping process with warping process parameters. The results show that the hairiness can be well predicted by us. The results show that the ANN model yields more accurate and stable predictions, which indicates that the ANN theory is an effective and viable modeling method.

INTRODUCTION There are many effect factors such as fiber parameters, yarn structural properties and processing parameters on yarn hairiness etc. Among these factors, the warping process parameters play the most important role in yarn hairiness formation [1-4]. However, it is rather difficult to establish a physics model to describe the process-property relation of the warping yarn hairiness. Although, over the past decades, there are many researchers [5-8] have established artificial neural network model for prediction various textile nonlinear problems. But, the applications of ANN for predicting the warping yarn hairiness are very scanty. Because the artificial neural network with the excellent characteristic of nonlinear mapping and self-adaptation, it can provide an alternative to conventional methods. In this work, we used the ANN model to predict the warping yarn hairiness from the warping processing parameters. The results are satisfied.Therefore, the results show that the ANN model yields more accurate and stable predictions, which indicates that the ANN theory is an effective and viable modeling method.
Ⅱ. EXPERIMENTAL PROCEDUCE AND RESULTS
A. Experiment varietyThe polyester/cotton 60/40 yarn with linear density of 36.4tex was manufactured with the use of the FA601 rotor spinning machine.
B. Experiment machine type1452A-180 warping machine is used in this work, speed of the warping machine is 180-290r/min, and the guide distance of the warping machine is 100-250mm.
C. Experiment conditionsTest samples were conditioned in a standard atmosphere of 25℃ temperature and 65% relative humidity for minimum of 24 hours.
D. Experiment contentsThe mechanical parameter such as the hairiness (2mm) of polyester/cotton yarn in warping process was tested by using YG172A yarn hairiness tester.
