Danish translation and adaptation of Loewenstein Occupational Therapy Cognitive Assessment 2nd Edition (LOTCA-II)

“…We used the score of motor praxis area of LOTCA-II (the second edition of LOTCA) for validating K-AST as a further evaluation. This assessment tool identifies a broad range of cognitive dysfunctions in orientation, visual and spatial perception, motor praxis, visuomotor organization, and thinking operation [151617]. Among these six areas, the motor praxis area of LOTCA-II consists of three subsets (motor imitation, use of object, and symbolic action).…”

“…Most research concerning the translation and adaptation of an assessment tool recommend using an expert panel where all the participants are in consensus regarding all the translated items [28,37,38]. This is a very time-consuming procedure and, as previously referred to, the EASI is extensive with 20 different subtests and many items and instructions.…”

“…The content analysis following the interviews aimed at detecting patterns of cultural difficulties between the translated version of the EASI and the original. Focus group interviews have been used in the earlier stages of the process in other translation studies [36,[38][39][40], and content analysis was conducted in two of them [36,40]. The participants for the expert panel focus groups were chosen mainly for their clinical experience with the EASI target population (children 3-12 years) but also for their interest in ASI.…”

“…LOTCA-II is considered an important instrument because it is validated, does not require certification, and because of its potential to supplement assessments of patients' performance in activities of daily living by clarifying patients' cognitive dysfunctions (11). The instrument has recently been translated into Danish and adapted to the Danish context (14). However, before implementing the Danish version of LOTCA-II (LOTCA-II/D) in clinical practice, it is important to test its reliability and internal consistency in clinical settings.…”
