Abstract: Ungarn war einer der ersten sozialistischen Staaten, der 1989 den vollständigen Bruch mit dem alten System vollzog. Bereits in den 1970er und 80er Jahren hatte die Reformpolitik der Ungarischen Sozialistischen Arbeiterpartei (Magyar Szocialista Munkáspárt, MSZMP) zu einer weichen ökonomischen und politischen Liberalisierung geführt.
