Dealing with telescope magnification and resolution: recreating Galileo’s observations in the lab

Abstract:We present practical laboratory work for master's students in photonics. The laboratory session is based on the construction of a telescope, emulating the one used by Galileo Galilei and analyzing the effect of aberrations and other practical limitations on the quality of the image.
