This study tested emerging adult couples’ openness and its fit effect on their romantic relationship quality using quadratic polynomial regression and response surface analysis. Participants were 260 emerging adult dyads. Both dyads’ openness and relationship quality were measured. The result showed that (1) female and male openness contribute differently to relationship quality; (2) couples with similar high openness could experience better relationship quality than those with similar low openness traits; and (3) when dyadic openness is dissimilar, it is better to be either relatively high or relatively low than to be moderate. These findings highlight the role of openness in emerging adults’ romantic relationships from a dyadic angle.

Introduction Iodine is a vital mineral of the human body that acts by maintaining the health of the thyroid gland. Research has shown that iodine-rich food allergy (i.e., seafood allergy) is not caused by iodine itself; instead, it is caused by other proteins including tropomyosin and parvalbumin in shellfish and fish, respectively. Amiodarone is a commonly used antiarrhythmic agent containing a significant amount of iodine. Objective This study’s objective was to assess pharmacists’ knowledge, attitude, and practices toward the misconception of iodine allergy and the cross-reactivity with amiodarone. Methods In February 2020, a cross-sectional study was conducted by sending out an online survey to three pharmaceutical organizations (Saudi Pharmaceutical Society, Kuwait Pharmaceutical Association, and Oman Pharmaceutical Society). Additionally, an electronic questionnaire was administered to pharmacists attending the Dubai International Pharmaceuticals and Technologies Conference and Exhibition 2020 (DUPHAT). Chi-square or Fisher’s exact test, when appropriate, were used to compare categorical variables. The statistical analyses were carried out using SPSS software. Results Data were collected from 66 respondents. However, only 61 (92.4%) were included in the final analysis following the exclusion of incomplete responses. The mean age of participants was 35 ± 8.48 years. The majority of participants did not have the Board of Pharmacy Specialties Certification (54.1%). Moreover, (41%) of participants licensed as pharmacists with more than 10 years of initial pharmacy licensure. Forty-three (70.5%) of participants had the misconception that iodine allergy should be considered before amiodarone administration, 20/32 (62.5%) of whom considered iodine allergy alone thought that premedication with corticosteroids and/or antihistamines is necessary. Concerning iodine allergy and amiodarone use, there was no significant difference in knowledge between the pharmacists who have board certification and those who did not. Conclusion Pharmacists’ misconception concerning iodine allergy and cross-reactivity with amiodarone was evident. Implementation of educational programs targeting pharmacists is necessary to correct these misconceptions.

Introduction There is still lack of knowledge of drug allergy in children. Proper knowledge and management of drug hypersensitivity reactions is important to physicians. Aim To evaluate the approach of primary care doctors regarding drug allergy in children. Material and methods A total of 195 primary care doctors were questioned in various parts of Lithuania from 2015 to 2016. An original questionnaire was used. The incidence of a suspected drug allergy, culprit drugs, the clinical pattern and management of the suspected drug hypersensitivity were analysed. Results The majority of primary care doctors (74.4%) reported a suspected drug allergy. The main suspected drugs were antibiotics (95.2%) and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (32.4%). Skin symptoms (skin rash (100%) and itching (82.1%)) were the main symptoms of the suspected drug allergy. The vast majority of doctors (93.8%) withdrew the use of a suspected drug and 68.3% of respondents prescribed an alternative drug. The fact that skin tests, blood tests and provocation tests could be used in a drug allergy workup were indicated by 43.6% of doctors. Most doctors (69.2%) knew about the opportunity to test children for drug allergy in Lithuania and 41.4% of doctors referred patients for the further drug allergy workup. Conclusions The majority of primary care doctors reported a suspected drug allergy in children. The most common suspected drugs were antibiotics and skin symptoms were the main symptoms. Most doctors knew about the possibility to test for the drug allergy but only less than half of them referred patients for the drug allergy workup.
