Decay Kinetics and Polarization of the AT Emission of Pb2+ Centres of Different Structure in KBr:PbBr2

Abstract: Three types of Pb2+v; dipole and interstitial bromine atom associates (Hz(Pba+) centres) as well as a Pbz+ ion associated with the next-nearest-neighbouring cation vacancy (Pb2+v; [OOl] centres) are found in a KBr:PbBr2 crystal. The luminescence of all these centres is caused by electronic transitions from tetragonal minima of the adiabatic potential energy surface (APES) of the triplet excited state of the Pb2+ ion.
