Decentralized and distributed active fault diagnosis: Multiple model estimation algorithms

Abstract: The paper focuses on active fault diagnosis (AFD) of large scale systems. The multiple model framework is considered and two architectures are treated: the decentralized and the distributed one. An essential part of the AFD algorithm is state estimation, which must be supplemented with a mechanism to achieve feasible implementation in the multiple model framework. In the paper, the generalized pseudo Bayes and interacting multiple model estimation algorithms are considered. They are reformulated for a given mo… Show more

“…One main field is fault estimation; researchers investigate sliding mode observers [7], proportionalintegral observers [8] and the possibility of relaxed assumptions [9]. Another important topic is state estimation; research activities employ for instance interacting multiple model estimation algorithms [10]. Rule-based expert systems again receive attention such as in the fault diagnosis of mechanical systems [11].…”

“…The diagnostic reasoning algorithms based on columns and rows can be used in the following variants: All of the methods listed above relate to Passive Fault Diagnosis (PFD) using only signals recorded during the normal operation of the diagnosed process. In the last few years, Active Fault Diagnosis methods (AFD) have also been developed, where deliberate test stimulations have been used [31,32].…”

“…Therefore, we use the output feedback control to allow flexibility and simplicity of decentralized controller implementation. Straka and Punčochář (2020) design and analyze the performance of active fault diagnosis for large scale systems with decentralized and distributed architectures. A decentralized adaptive controller is proposed for a class of uncertain interconnected systems with unknown modeling errors and interactions (Cai et al, 2022), where the proposed controller can ensure that all closed-loop system signals are bounded by using backstepping methods.…”
