Deception ECM signals cancellation processor with joint time-frequency pulse diversity

Abstract: A pulse diversity-based jammer cancellation processor is designed in this paper to cancel the deception electronic counter measures (ECM) signals repeated by a digital radio frequency memory (DRFM) for radar systems. In order to remove the conventional stationary hypotheses and the rigorous application conditions, an orthogonal transmission block code set is achieved in one pulse repetition interval by exploiting the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM). The processor does not require parameter es… Show more

“…Over the past decades, numerous electronic counter‐countermeasures (ECCM) have been exploited to suppress the deception jamming in order to detect the desired target and estimate the target's parameters further under the severe jamming conditions [7–12]. Pulse diversity is considered as the most effective ECCM scheme against the DRFM repeat‐type jammer [3, 6–9], which assumes the victim radar system currently transmits orthogonal pulses from one pulse repetition interval (PRI) to another and the repeat jammer cannot adapt easily. Since the pulses of radar vary frequently and the signal transmitted by the DRFM‐equipped jammer is approximately orthogonal to the signal transmitted by radar at the current PRI, the DRFM repeat jammer signal would be weaken followed by a matched filter, which is related with the transmitted radar signal of the current PRI [3].…”

“…For nonstationary interference signals, this method is difficult to implement due to complicated model and high-dimensional parameter estimation. Based on a alteration of SAR transmitted signal, pulse diversity technologies are now widely applied to counter digital radio frequency memory (DRFM) repeat jammer [6][7][8], however they are incapable of suppressing the high-power noncoherent interference effectively. 2) Time-frequency domain.…”
